This is an announcement by Focus50 about its own product.
Industry news and lifestyle content, in one magazine but in two separate sections.
Focus50 is launching F50 Magazine, which goes live with this article. It has two sections: News (/news) and Lifestyle (/lifestyle). Both carry the same F50 Magazine masthead, with News and Lifestyle tabs beneath it so readers can switch between them.
Both sections are published in three languages: Traditional Chinese (/news, /lifestyle), Simplified Chinese (/zh-hans/news, /zh-hans/lifestyle) and English (/en/news, /en/lifestyle). Each article uses the same URL slug in all three languages, and every article page links to the other language versions.
News: recruiting developments in the industry
The News section covers recruiting developments in insurance, direct selling and agency businesses, in four categories: Industry, Regulation & licensing, Company hiring and Focus50 news. Region tags cover Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore and Global.
Lifestyle: written for insurance agents, direct sellers and recruiters
The Lifestyle section is written for insurance agents, direct sellers and recruiters, in four categories:
- Travel & dining
- Watches, style & cars
- Health & productivity
- People & money
Lifestyle articles state the month and year to which their prices and details are correct. People & money articles automatically end with a notice that the content is general information, not investment, tax or insurance advice; Health & productivity articles automatically state that the content is general health information, not medical advice.
Five editorial principles
- Sources: every article ends with a list of sources, giving the publisher, original title, date and link. Apart from Focus50's own announcements, every article has at least one source; in the News section, at least one source must be dated within 30 days before publication.
- Corrections: every article has a corrections log. Readers can report errors by emailing support@wedo-search.com. Corrections are dated and state what was changed; articles are never altered without a trace. An article that is wrong as a whole is withdrawn.
- Facts and analysis kept apart: the news itself states only facts. Any analysis for recruiting teams at the end of an article sits under a subheading that labels it as analysis, and adds no new facts.
- No income hooks: the Lifestyle section does not link a luxury lifestyle to income or recruiting. Software scans the full text in all three languages for phrases such as "financial freedom", "passive income" and "six-figure".
- No advertising: no fees are charged for mentioning brands and there are no affiliate links; any future sponsored content will be clearly labelled at the top. The body carries no product promotion; the footer has a single line linking to the demo workspace (/demo).
How the magazine differs from the recruiting guides
F50 Magazine covers industry news and lifestyle. The recruiting guides (/guides) are how-to articles that teach managers how to select candidates, hold meetings, follow up and manage recruiting teams. There are currently 23 guides, plus the /insurance-recruiting page, covering lists, meetings, follow-up, teams, tools, planning and MDRT. The two have different author and sourcing rules.
Who writes it, and how
Articles are credited to the F50 Editorial Team. Factual standards follow the BBC Editorial Guidelines and the writing style takes its cue from GQ, but the style guide states: "factual accuracy outranks style".
Every piece starts with research. A first draft follows, then it is checked against its sources to produce a final version, and only then is it translated into three languages. Each article must be approved individually by Dominus before it is imported and published. Focus50's own announcements are labelled as such at the top and cover only features that are already live.
